Gas freeing cover – VQ-GFC
Gas freeing operations are regularly done on a tanker vessel either for cleaning/inspecting the tank, or to remove traces of the cargo so as not to contaminate the next cargo being carried.
Traditionally the gas freeing process, which is in essence a gas diluting process, has been done through gas freeing covers mounted on a separate line. The need for an approved flame arresting device for this purpose, comes from the fact that the gasses being expelled through it can be flammeable.
The high velocity PV-valve VQHV-ISO, with its monobody design, and very small footprint, is simply too small to include the gas freeing cover in its simple design. Therefore we introduce the GFC to be mounted inline with the valve itself.
The device is manufactured in stainless steel, utilizing a double flamescreen to quench the flames and to prevent a possible flashback.
This will be ready for sale in first half of 2012.
